The Hastings Area Business Crime Reduction Partnership is an independent intelligence and information-sharing scheme, led by businesses, which aims to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the borough of Hastings and neighbouring towns.
Our public website can be accessed here: www.bcrphastings.com
Supported by Sussex Police and Hastings Borough Council, with affiliations to local safeguarding and charitable organisations, such as the street pastors.
The scheme operates an exclusion list to deter entry by offenders to member businesses, with two distinct membership groups, either Barwatch for bars, clubs or similar venues, and Shopwatch for independent shops, larger chain retailers and convenience stores.
The scheme also manages a radio communication system, which is monitored and co-ordinated by Hastings BID and Priory Meadow security, providing an important pro-active exchange of information. This enables offenders to be identified and deterred or detained, or awareness to be raised of repeat offenders entering the town.
The scheme operates locally within the legal and financial management of the Business Improvement District (trading as Love Hastings Ltd), and is accredited by 'Secured by Design' through a national body, the National Association of Business Crime Reduction Partnerships.
