LBAC is a partnership crime reduction initiative aimed at reducing crime and anti-social behaviour and is supported by the Home Office.
The partnership is based on a proven approach adopted in other towns, cities and shopping centres and has been incorporated within the Luton Crime and Disorder Strategy.
Bedfordshire Police, Luton Borough Council and The Mall Luton are keen for the scheme to develop and progress and require the full support of businesses in Luton Town Centre for this to succeed.
This scheme incorporates the retail radio link where businesses are linked via radio to Luton CCTV, Bedfordshire Police Town Centre PCSO, Safer Neighbourhood Teams and The Mall Control Room .
Businesses within the scheme regularly meet to share information and look to exclude persistent offenders from all LBAC stores.
The scheme is run by a co-ordinator that distributes photographs of current offenders to be aware of.
Any incidents relating to these persons are collated by the co-ordinator and the information is shared between the partners with an aim to gaining CBO’s and injunctions.
The partnership aims to reduce criminal activity, protect staff from acts of physical violence and verbal abuse, reduce crime losses and generate an improvement in the environment of the community thus creating a safe place to live, work and visit.
