The Home Office under the Crime & Disorder Act 1998 has encouraged local communities to bring together relevant stakeholders and set up local partnerships to manage local problems. Newport Business against Crime (NBAC) is such a scheme. It is a not for profit organization specifically set up to deal with business related crime reduction. It is a member of Wales Association of Business Crime Partnerships and accredited by the UK National Association of Business Crime Partnerships.
What we do
We run a formal information sharing scheme amongst our members that targets persistent offenders. We do this by sharing information with partners in compliance with the Crime and Disorder Act, the Data Protection Act and other associated legislation. This allows us to also manage a targeted offender list and an Exclusion Scheme on our memberships behalf.
To communicate effectively we use a digital radio network that all members may access that has links with the local authority CCTV control room, and the Police. We also share information, photographs and intelligence between members and other partners, such as the probation service, via this secure intranet.
If you are member and have not previously received an invite to access this database or are interested in joining our scheme please contact us via Dominique.cbac@gmail.com
